Death by the Numbers
The cast of the UK/Ireland tour of Death on the Nile
On 23 May, 2026, the UK/Ireland tour of my adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile steamed to a close. The company concluded the production at the Plymouth Theatre Royal.
What does it take to bring a show like ours to a different city every week for months? Here’s a look at the tour of Death on the Nile by the numbers:
195 performances
1 show stop
25 understudy performances
147 litres (nearly 40 gallons) of Nozecco alcohol-free bubbly poured on stage
37 Kg (over 80 pounds) of flame paste burned for fire effects
8 litres (over 2 gallons) of hairspray used
1,664 tissues used in quick change areas
4,680 mic batteries used
13,065 full costume changes
52,845 “go” cues called by the Deputy Stage Manager
371 performance hours
500 “fit up” and “get out” hours
4,188 miles travelled from venue to venue. That’s longer than the length of the Nile and nearly the distance from London to Cairo and back
Over 170,000 audience members
Many thanks to our Company Manager Siân Wiggins for collecting these remarkable statistics. And congratulations again to the company of Death on the Nile. Thanks for bringing the play to life!
