1st Ken Ludwig Playwriting Scholarship awarded by American College Theatre Festival on April 18!

This year, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival is pleased to announce a new scholarship sponsored by the distinguished American playwright Ken Ludwig. The scholarship will be awarded each year to an undergraduate or graduate student playwright who shows great promise in the art and craft of playwriting.

The awards for Playwriting, including the announcement of the inaugural recipient of the Ken Ludwig Playwriting Scholarship, will be announced following the performance of House of Several Stories, the recipient of the National Student Playwriting Award on Saturday, April 18 in the Kennedy Center Family Theater.

The Ken Ludwig Playwriting Scholarship is the latest addition to THE MICHAEL KANIN PLAYWRITING AWARDS PROGRAM. This program encourages and supports the development of student-written plays through a variety of honors, including fellowships at the Sundance Theatre Lab, O’Neill Playwrights’ Conference, WordBRIDGE and The Playwrights’ Center, possible publication contracts, residencies and cash awards. Excerpts of the award-winning plays will be presented by professional actors during the festival.
