North Shore Music Theatre Presents Crazy For You

The award winning North Shore Music Theatre is proud to kick off its 2007 Musical Season with an all new production of CRAZY FOR YOU, a dazzling tap musical in the style of NSMT’s hit production of Singin’ in the Rain. Playing from April 24 – May 13, 2007, with Press Night scheduled for April 26 at 7:30 pm.

“North Shore Music Theatre is excited to kick off the 2007 season with such a high-energy production,” said Jon Kimbell, NSMT’s Artistic Director and Executive Producer. “This Gershwin favorite is the perfect example of the big American musical, complete with spectacular tap numbers, a terrific musical score, and outrageous humor. 2007 is the year of big productions at NSMT, and Crazy for You sets the stage perfectly for the season.”

Audiences will delight in the adventures of a stage-struck New York City playboy in a Nevada mining town — where romance, mistaken identities, and show-stopping musical numbers all add up to irresistible fun. Winner of three 1992 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, this zany comedy is filled with high-energy singing and dancing, and hilarious plot twists. The classic score contains such memorable Gershwin songs as “Embraceable You,” “I Got Rhythm,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.” CRAZY FOR YOU features a book Ken Ludwig, music by George Gershwin, and lyrics by Ira Gershwin.

This hilarious tale of boy meets girl in the Wild West stars Jeffry Denman as Bobby Child and Amanda Watkins as Polly Baker. Denman made his Broadway debut in the revival of How To Succeed in Business... starring Matthew Broderick and other Broadway credits include the original cast of Mel Brooks' The Producers, the Johnny Mercer musical review Dream, and the final cast of Cats (Munkustrap). Most recently, he learned sign language to play James Leeds in the first NYC revival of Children of a Lesser God for the Keen Company and he played Jenkins in the Encores! production of Of Thee I Sing starring Victor Garber and directed by John Rando. Denman’s co-star, Amanda Watkins, is fresh off the national tour of Sweet Charity playing Nickie, a role that she portrayed in the Broadway production as well. Her other Broadway and tour credits include Urinetown, Cabaret, Grease, Cats, Beauty and the Beast, and South Pacific (opposite Robert Goulet).

The supporting cast of CRAZY FOR YOU includes Dan Amboyer (Lank Hawkins), Maureen Brennan (Mother), Gordon Baird (Eugene Fodor), David Coffee (Bela Zangler), John O’Creagh (Everett Baker), Lyn Philistine (Irene Roth), and Tory Ross (Patricia Fodor).
